THE COMPANY
1989 | 2015
Teatro da Garagem / Garage Theatre is a company founded in 1989 which dedicates its artistic work to research and theatre experimentation, this being accomplished mainly by finding new scenic forms and practicing innovative theatre writing.
Under the direction of Carlos Pessoa, who is also the author of the main texts on stage, and Maria João Vicente, actress and director of production, the company works with a fixed ensemble of actors, a dramaturge, a musician, a scenographer and costume designer, a light designer and a stage management team. Beyond its original works, based in original texts by Carlos Pessoa, the company develops work with and within the community, through activities by the Educative Service, and opens its doors to new artists in the context of the Cycle Try Better Fail Better.
Teatro da Garagem resides in Teatro Taborda since 2005, under na invitation by EGEAC/Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.
